Embodied Practice for Health Professionals
Therapists . Body-Oriented Practice . Social Workers Seeking Tools for Wellbeing & Mental Heatlh
There is a secondary epidemic going on at the moment related to mental health. As communities continue to move in and out of lockdowns, employment becomes more unstable and individuals increasingly suffer the effects of isolation and loneliness, now more than ever people are reaching out to health professionals for support. It is critical then that you as a health professional also create time to support your own mental health & well-being. Developing an embodied practice is an extraordinary act of self-care. It also has the added bonus of equipping you with more tools, resources and techniques for supporting your clients.
We draw on a range of therapeutic embodied techniques that are trauma informed, playful and transformative. Whether you are a therapist, a body-based practitioner or a social worker you can develop your own embodied practice and in turn support your clients to:
self-sooth
modulate sensory responses
manage stress & anxiety
heal, grow & flourish
rejuvenate creativity
Taking an embodied approach to consciously noticing sensations and regulating related emotions is a highly effective form of learning, living with others and thriving on this planet. It grows resilience, wellbeing and care. This approach taps innate embodied intelligence so that you may support others to do the same.
Our Aim
Our aim is to galvanise conscious embodied living and embed it in the connective tissue of our communities. Human intelligence exceeds what is commonly used and valued. We want to change this and bring forth a poly-intelligent approach.
Credentials
Our experiential work draws on the proven benefits of arts & movement-based learning, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, play-based inquiry, improvisation, Qigong and physical learning tools. It is underpinned by a range of fields including body-mind philosophy and psychotherapy, neurophysiology, experiential anatomy and neurodevelopment therapy (Body-Mind Centering, Alexander Technique), movement ecology, somatics, multi-sensory learning, multiple intelligence theory and art therapy.
