Soma Roma Explained

Some Ideas to contextualise this work

In this work we bridge somatic knowledge with mainstream health and wellbeing practices through a blend of analogue, digital, and live resources. Our approach combines artistic elements with an exploration of the physiological underpinnings and therapeutic impacts of these practices. We aim to educate both at a biological level - highlighting what occurs in the body during these practices, and at a consciously intelligent level, empowering you as both the subject and practitioner of this material.

You are sensate, experiencing a vibrant, multi-dimensional world through your embodied intelligence. Engaging in dynamic movement, creativity, and physical connections with others and the natural environment is essential for both your mental and physical well-being. Practices that support these connections are crucial not only for your personal health but also for the long-term sustainability and vitality of our communities.

Why Roam your soma

When you explore your ‘soma’ (your living self in its entirety) from a somatic perspective, you are delving into the field of your lived experience. This means you are paying close attention to the sensations, imagery, and information available through your senses to gain a deeper understanding of how you function and relate to your environment. As you focus on one sense, it enhances the others, since senses work in harmony rather than isolation. Over time, you will develop a heightened sense of embodied awareness by more consciously tuning into this sensory intelligence.
